In the American Revolutionary War, the town of Hempstead (excluded was the Rockaway Peninsula, which did join Greater New York), was constituted as the new Town of Hempstead. Rucker Park became a center for mentoring, drawing legends like Wilt Chamberlin, Julius Dr. J Erving, and Kareem Abdul-Jabaar, as well as streetball icons including Earl The Goat Manigault and Joe The Destroyer Hammond. Including nine new hikes, each profile includes a trail summary that rates the difficulty, solitude, and scenery of each hike, while outlining significant sites along the way.
